At Newcastle University, you can only apply for accommodation if you are holding an offer to study with us. We'll then let you know how to apply and when you can submit your application. Applications have not opened yet.

What’s it like living in Newcastle?
A Top 5 student city in the UK (QS Best Student Cities 2024), Newcastle is a welcoming, diverse place where one in six people is a student.
The QS rankings also place it in the Top 10 most affordable UK cities, with restaurants, shops, bars and entertainment venues making it a vibrant place to live and study.
What accommodation is available in the city?
There’s plenty of student accommodation in our friendly city, but make sure you check out the key differences between each type before you choose.
- University-owned accommodation – owned and managed by us
- managed partnership accommodation – owned by private providers but run in partnership with us. The private provider will manage your tenancy, but we’ll sort out your application and allocation
- private accommodation –independently owned and managed by private landlords
What is Newcastle University’s accommodation like?
Our University-owned and managed partnership residences are in prime positions close to campus or in the vibrant city centre. Offering self-catering accommodation you can choose from:
- well-equipped flats and modern city-centre apartments
- standard rooms with shared facilities; rooms with washbasins or en-suite rooms
- accessible accommodation for students with particular needs or disabilities
Your safety
Entry-phone systems, CCTV, and on-site staff (during office hours) keep our accommodation safe, and you’ll be supported by our friendly Accommodation Services and ResLife teams to settle in.
Our new student guarantee
We guarantee a room to all first-year undergraduate and postgraduate taught students (eligibility criteria apply).
How much does university accommodation cost?
Our accommodation is affordable, with prices to suit every budget. What you pay depends on your residence's location and your room’s facilities.
To make budgeting easier at many of our sites utility bills are included in the price you pay and WiFi is free. Check out the overview for each of our sites.
How to apply for university accommodation?
Once you’ve received an offer from us and made us your firm choice, there are two ways to apply for accommodation: the Advanced Booking route, which allows you to reserve your room straight away, or via our Application Portal. Eligibility criteria will apply.
