🏆 Newcastle University Awards 2026

SciFair with Ilsa at NU Awards 2026

The Newcastle University Awards celebrate the achievements and contributions that our students make to the University.

This year's awards took place on Thursday 4 June, bringing guests together to celebrate the outstanding achievements of our students across university life, extra-curricular activities and the wider community.

Professor Chris Day, Vice-Chancellor, opened the ceremony and praised the efforts and successes of all shortlisted students.

Hosted by Ilsa Hartley, Students' Union President, and Gayle Leach from the Careers Service, the evening celebrated nominees, runners-up and winners who have contributed to the University over the past year.

🏅 GNR 2026: Supporting our student community

Great North Run 2026

We’re proud that 35 colleagues, alumni and supporters will take part in this year’s Great North Run to raise funds for the Newcastle University Student Fund.

Since the establishment of Team Newcastle in 2024, over £25,000 has been raised by runners to support students.

Donations to the Newcastle University Student Fund aim to alleviate some of the financial pressures faced by our student community and support initiatives such as:

  • Scholarships
  • Hardship funding
  • Discounted meals on campus
  • Free period products on campus
  • Participation bursaries for sports clubs and societies organised by the Students' Union

The funds raised help ensure that every student has the chance to succeed and thrive, regardless of their background.

We are incredibly grateful to Team Newcastle for the difference they are making to our student community and hope that you will join us in cheering them on as they take on the 13.1-mile route on Sunday 13 September 2026.
