Rooms are grouped into self-catered flats with shared communal facilities. Room types include:
All rooms include essential furniture such as a bed, wardrobe, desk and chair. Communal kitchens and lounges are well equipped, while some residences offer more facilities such as study areas, bike storage, cinema and games rooms. There’s also on-site laundrettes if washing machines aren’t supplied in individual flats.

All our residences are in great locations, either on campus or the city’s doorstep. They’re close to Newcastle's restaurants and shops as well as favourite student areas such as Ouseburn that’s popular for its culture and live music.
Excellent public transport, including local buses and the Metro light rail system, makes travelling around the city simple and affordable. The Metro also connects to Newcastle International Airport and Central Station for exploring further afield and trips home.
We work hard to ensure our accommodation is safe and secure. Most residences have entry phone systems and CCTV, alongside on-site support through reception teams.
Our Security Team patrols campus and residences, while the SafeZone app allows students to contact University Security at any time.

We’ll support them through our ResLife programme of social events, advice sessions and ResHacks – practical life skills workshops.
ResLife teams also work closely with Student Wellbeing, our Students’ Union (NUSU), Student Services and Careers Service if your child needs signposting to more support.
Costs vary depending on room type and location, but all options provide good value considering what’s included.
Rent typically covers utilities (such as heating, electricity and water) as well as wifi and personal possessions insurance. This will help your child manage their finances with fewer unexpected costs.
Flexible payment options are available, including monthly and termly instalments. We also offer a 2% discount if accommodation fees are paid in full before the contract start date (40-week contracts or longer).

Most undergraduate accommodation contracts run for 40 continuous weeks, aligning with the academic year.
That means your child can stay in their accommodation without needing to move out during holidays. This is particularly helpful if they can’t easily travel home or want to leave their belongings in their room while they’re away.
