If you have struggled through exam season, you are not alone!
Mia reflects on the mistakes she has made and the lessons that helped her feel more prepared and confident.
The Library will be operating the Study Well campaign throughout the assessment period.
Here are some key things we will be doing to help you – and what you can do to help yourself and others:
Staff will be monitoring spaces regularly to ensure they are kept clean and quiet and will be happy to try and help you find a space to suit your study needs.
Text our Noise Alert Service on 07891 484764 if you’re being disturbed by noise in a silent area and we’ll come and investigate.
Take regular breaks, but if you’re leaving your desk for longer than 30 minutes, take your belongings with you or use one of our lockers to help free up space for others to use.
For those moments when you need some time out, explore our Leisure Reading collections, stream some music from our Spotify playlists, or download our Study/wellbeing pack.
The Library has lots of resources and support to help you fulfil your potential and succeed.

UK Terrorism Threat Level – Information for Students
On Thursday 30 April, the UK government raised the national terrorism threat level from “substantial” to “severe”.
This means that an attack on UK soil is considered “highly likely” in the next six months.
While this is not in response to any particular or specific threat to the University, Newcastle, or the wider North East, keeping our community safe is a shared responsibility.
We’re sharing this information on the Student Noticeboard so that all students feel informed, reassured and confident about what to do if they ever feel uncertain or unsafe.
This month’s update focuses on protecting your wellbeing during assessment periods, with ideas for supportive reading and a few fun ways to take a breather.
With memberships from £12 a month, enjoy unlimited gym access, fitness classes and sports activities. Not around the whole time? No problem, you can now pay-as-you-go from just £6!
START UPis on the hunt for the next wave of bold thinkers, gamechangers and future founders to join us at Climb26 – the UK’s most dynamic festival for business growth and innovation.

This edition spotlights our IT Service (NUIT):
💬 You said: "The Wi-Fi Coverage is poor in some campus locations"
👂 We listened: Improved Wi-Fi is one of the key deliverables of the University’s Network Transformation Programme - the largest investment in IT infrastructure the University has ever made.
The existing network is reaching the end of its supportable life and will be replaced by a modern network across central campus, satellite sites, NUMed and NewRIIS. This will improve Wi‑Fi coverage, enhance security for research activity and allow faster responses to cyber‑security threats.
📧 Report phishing emails: Over the last few weeks, some students and colleagues have fallen victim to a phishing email that claims to offer a number of highly desired items. Please report any suspicious emails using the Report function in Microsoft Outlook.
💸 Be scam aware: Students are particularly vulnerable to scams around student loan payment dates, when they’re expecting messages about funding or changes to their account.
💷 Struggling financially? Support is available:Managing money at university can be challenging, especially if unexpected circumstances arise. If you’re struggling to cover essential living costs, you may be eligible for discretionary support funds.
🥧 Men's Pie Club: A free of charge, relaxed, social space for male students to take a break and make food to take home with them. Every Wednesday, 14:00-16:00, Agriculture Building, Ground Floor Common Room.
🚲 Bike Week 2026: Organised by the Sustainability Team in partnership with WATBike and funded by Cycling UK. Expect Dr Bike sessions, maintenance advice and refurbished bike sales from Tuesday 5 to Thursday 7 May in the Boiler House.
