Your Student Life newsletter: 28 August 2025

Hi ,

As August comes to an end and programmes are finishing, we hope you’ve had a good summer so far!

This is a time to pause and reflect on everything you’ve achieved: the hard work, the dedication, and the commitment you made to yourself when you started your journey at Newcastle.

This is your chance to look back with pride, before looking ahead to what's next.

Some of you might already have a clear idea of what comes next, and that’s fantastic. Others may still be working it out, and that’s completely fine too.

Whatever stage you’re at, our Careers Service is here to support you for up to three years after you graduate. You can find out more below about how the team can help.

In this edition, you’ll also find details about the Graduate Outcomes Survey, the Rate Your Landlord scheme, and some Top September Events to enjoy.

Before you finish your programme, we wanted to give you a heads-up about the Graduate Outcomes Survey.

We know it’s early, but around 15 months after you graduate, the Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA) will get in touch with graduates to take part.

This national survey helps improve the experience for future students by giving us insight into your career journey and life after university. The data collected is used by:

  • UK universities and colleges to enhance their services
  • league tables and platforms like Prospects and The Complete University Guide to support student decision-making

Keep an eye out for the logo in the future and let us know how you’re getting on with your next steps!

🎓 Top tips for the Class of 2025

Slide with small circular image of student, Sara, with text reading "Every experience you have will help you in some kind of way" (Class of 2023)

All your hard work at university has paid off and you’ll soon be the proud owner of a Newcastle University degree - congratulations!

To help you transition to graduate life, we spoke with Class of 2023 alumna Sara Kozakova to get her top tips.

  1. Do what you love:

You don’t have to separate your interests and passions from your work: find what motivates you and pursue it.

  2. The importance of networking:

I wouldn’t be where I am today if I didn’t meet my now manager at a networking event and connect with her on LinkedIn! Start growing your professional network now by joining the private LinkedIn group for Newcastle graduates.

  3. The power of ‘yes’:

Every experience you have will help you in some kind of way. I say yes to most opportunities because you never know where it might lead and who you might meet.
