Student Voice is a vital part of the experience at Newcastle. It’s your opportunity to influence teaching, support, and the wider University environment by sharing what matters most to you.
Throughout the year, you can complete surveys, take part in focus groups and speak to your student reps, who will represent you at student–staff committees. Each opportunity gives you a platform to highlight what’s working well and what could be improved!
Your feedback leads to real change. We use it to enhance learning, improve resources and support services, and shape a more inclusive and engaging student community.
All the best,
Yvonne

📋 National Student Survey
The National Student Survey (NSS) is a short, nationwide survey for final-year students, like you, to share what their university experience has really been like.
Student feedback helps improve courses, services and student life and it also gives future students a clearer picture of what to expect.
By taking part, you could win:
Varsity 2026 tickets (complete the survey before 15 March)
£5 and £10 campus coffee vouchers
£20 Co-op shopping card
The survey opens from 3 February 2026 and you’ll receive an email directly from NSS (Ipsos). Take a few minutes to have your say - it really makes a difference!
We’ve made changes to improve assessment and feedback across the University, based on what you told us.
💬 You said: "We don’t hear about any changes being made to programmes following our feedback"
👂 We listened: For the 2025-26 academic year, colleagues are asked to establish and regularly update a “You Said: We Listened” page on the Virtual Learning Environment (for example Canvas) community space. This should be accessible to you and used to respond to your feedback, including the action taken where appropriate. These can be drawn from all sources of student feedback, from modules and programmes, through surveys, in teaching sessions and through the work of the student representatives and Student Staff Committees.
We hope that you will see how we value your input, engage with it, and act upon it, and support us to consistently ‘close the feedback loop’ across the University.
🗳️ Student Elections 2026 are here!
Student Elections 2026 are officially OPEN and students are invited to nominate themselves and stand as a candidate for our next student leadership team.
Officer positions give you the opportunity to represent students, influence change across the Students’ Union and University and gain valuable experience alongside your studies or after graduation. Whether you’re looking to strengthen your career prospects or make a real difference for other students, standing as an Officer allows you to do both.
Sabbatical Officer roles are paid, full-time leadership positions, offering a meaningful next step after graduation with hands-on experience in changemaking, leadership, strategy and student representation. Liberation Officer roles are voluntary positions focused on advocacy, equality and representation, providing practical experience in campaigning and making a difference to other students just like you.
Submit your interest by midnight on Monday 2 February 2026 or find out more about the Student Elections on the NUSU website.
