Doctoral College Research Enhancement Fund update
The Doctoral College recently took the difficult decision to temporarily pause the Doctoral College Research Enhancement Fund (DCREF), so that we could review Doctoral College activities in the light of the current financial situation. We understand this sudden pause may have been disappointing, but it was important to take the time to review our plans to protect key PGR student activities.
The Doctoral College has made sure to honour previous commitments to successful DCREF applicants, as well as awarding funding to excellent applications submitted to the DCREF Call 1, which closed in September 2024.
We are pleased to announce that following our review, we have been able to allocate funding to allow the Doctoral College to launch of a 2nd DCREF call early in 2025. As the available funding will be at a lower rate than previously anticipated, the scope and criteria of the DCREF funding will need to be reviewed and the Doctoral College is currently developing revised guidelines, which will be available by mid-December, ready for the call opening in mid-January 2025.
👥 Our Behaviour Matters workshops
The Behaviour Matters project team invites you to join the University-wide conversation about our behaviours and values. This work builds on the 'Behaviour Matters' project, which is supported as part of our Research Culture Programme, and is inclusive of everyone in our university community. We want to hear your thoughts on the conduct we expect to see from each other — and the behaviours that we, as a community, should not accept. The Vice-Chancellor launched the project in a recent NU Connections and shared details at the recent Town Hall events.
You can join the conversation by registering for a listening group in-person or online until 16 December. This is a real opportunity to help to shape our future culture. Learn more about the project!
