This week, we wanted to highlight some exciting events that we've got coming up this semester. We also thought it would be a great opportunity to remind you of the support that the Careers Service has to offer. 

 

The Careers Service can support you to prepare for your future, whatever you decide for it. Whether you want to find out how to break into a sector or industry, network with employers, gain work experience, create your own opportunities or do all the above, we can provide you with guidance and direction.

But first, let's take a look at some of the exciting events we've got coming up this semester.

6 Feb: START UP Community Social

Join us at the next START UP Community Social and get some tips from entrepreneurs on the theme of selling online and offline, and learn how to position your start-up for success in a hybrid market.

 

Our speakers will be:

  • Racheal Straughan, founder of e-commerce platform Mayfli
  • Graham Soult, founder of retail consultancy Canny Insights
  • Kim Cattin, founder of beauty product Soap Brows/West Barn Co  
  • Joshy Jin, founder of premium meal kit delivery service WowzaBox

10 - 14 Feb: Placement Week

What can a placement year do for you?

 

Discover the benefits of doing a placement year while studying at Newcastle University during Placement Week 2025.  

 

Attend a range of workshops and events between Monday 10 February to Friday 14 February, including:  

  • Placements Uncovered – Tuesday 11 February, 16:00-17:00 
  • Funding your Work Experience – Tuesday 11 February, 12:00-12:30 
  • A live placements Q&A on Instagram with Rhona, one of our Work Experience Advisers and Sophie, a current placement year student  

The nclcareers Instagram channel will also be shining a spotlight on some of our placement students to give you first-hand insights, tips and advice.
