The 2026 Student Induction Course has been designed to:​

• keep students safe ​
• help you understand your responsibilities ​
• support your mental health and wellbeing​

It could save lives.​ Make the time to complete it!​

| Academic Advising

Academic Advising is a key part of your support at Newcastle.

It gives you dedicated, personalised guidance throughout your studies to help you thrive academically, build confidence, and make the most of your university experience.

The name of your Academic Adviser will become available in the My Programmes tile in the Student Portal. If you cannot see their details yet, please check again later. They will usually get in touch at the start of term, but you're always welcome to reach out.

Together, you and your Academic Adviser will:

• review your academic progress

• reflect on your skills and development

• set goals for your studies and future career 

Your Academic Adviser will also support you to build confidence as an independent learner and help you identify and access the right support when you need it.

| Safe, secure, supported

The University is committed to creating a safe and secure campus for everyone.

Here are some of the ways you can access support:

• Download the free SafeZone App, which lets you contact our Security team directly and get help quickly if you need it.
  

   

• Our University Security team is available 24/7 for emergencies on campus. Contact Security on 0191 208 6817.

   

• Attend one of our campus police officer drop-in sessions to ask questions, share concerns and get practical advice on crime prevention and personal safety.

   

• If you experience or witness a hate crime, sexual violence, harassment, spiking or initiations, you can report it confidentially using this form.
  
  

• Our Student Health and Wellbeing Service is here to help anyone affected by such incidents. 

Remember, everyone deserves to feel safe, respected and supported on campus.

Newcastle takes on Northumbria in Men’s Rugby Union at Kingston Park on Friday 25 September.

Take part in our BioBlitz: Join us on Friday at Drummond Court to explore campus green spaces, identify plants, insects and other wildlife, and help contribute to the University’s biodiversity baseline. The event is part of the wider Campus Nature Challenge September.
