Need to talk to someone? Find out about the support available to you.
Hi ,
We know that looking after your wellbeing is just as important as achieving your goals – and you don’t have to do it alone.
At Newcastle University, you have access to a range of support services to help you academically, personally and as you plan for your future. We want you to feel confident knowing where to go if you need someone to talk to.
Your Personal Tutor
Your Personal Tutor is here to support you throughout your studies. They should be your first point of contact for academic questions – including choosing modules, discussing your progress and finding information about submitting a Personal Extenuating Circumstances (PEC) request. If anything affects your studies, please reach out to your Personal Tutor. They’ll listen and guide you to the right support.
If you’re unsure who your Personal Tutor is, visit the Student Portal and check the ‘My Programmes’ tile. If no information is displayed, please contact your School.
Your Student Wellbeing Adviser
Student Wellbeing Advisers are based within Schools and offer confidential advice and signposting to help you access mental wellbeing and disability support.
The Student Wellbeing Adviser for the School of Law is Bethany. You can contact them by email to book an appointment or discuss any wellbeing concerns. They can help you explore your next steps.
Alongside supporting your academic success, we want to help you make informed and healthy lifestyle choices. Our essential Induction Canvas course helps you understand your responsibilities, stay safe and know how to access support.
You can also take part in wellbeing workshops, covering topics such as self-care, challenging negative thoughts and understanding stress and anxiety.
Confidential support and immediate help are available 24/7, 365 days a year via the Spectrum Mental Health Team. Download the Spectrum Life Wellbeing App and register to explore hours of wellbeing content on mental health, fitness and nutrition.
