Hi ,

Additional exam support

If you think that you may require exam support/adjustments, please note that the final deadline (for the Semester One Exam Period) for providing appropriate evidence is Friday 7 November 2025.

What is additional exam support?

Newcastle University provides support for students with a disability, long-term illness or health condition (including mental health), learning difficulty or developmental disorder. For exams, this includes (but is not restricted) to the following arrangements:

  • Extra exam time
  • Rest breaks
  • Use of a PC and/or assistive software
  • Change of exam venue/seating arrangement
  • Provision of specialist equipment

How to apply:

If you think you may require any of the above (or any other arrangements) for your future exams, please contact the Student Health and Wellbeing Service before Friday 7 November with your evidence.

Guidance on appropriate evidence and how to submit

Already have a Student Support Plan (SSP)?

If you are a continuing student who has already been granted alternative exam arrangements (i.e. you have a Student Support Plan in place) then you do NOT need to reapply.

Religious observance and exams

If you are unable to take an in-person or take-home exam during any of the University’s main exam periods due to a religious observance (e.g. holy days or religious festivals), then you can let us know by completing a Religious Observance Form.

For any observances during the Semester One Exam Period (6 to 20 January 2026), the deadline for submitting a form is Friday 24 October 2025.

Best wishes,

Examinations Team
