Hi ,
To help ensure that you’re exam ready, here are some useful tips if you have any upcoming exams.
Before the day
Exam rules and guidance
- read the Exam Rules & Guidance before your exams. These are important, telling you what to do before, during and at the end of your exam, and what to take (and not take) to your exam desk.
- check that you have a permitted calculator and dictionary (if applicable).
IMPORTANT: You’re not permitted to have a mobile phone or smart watch with you at your exam desk, even if it is switched off and in your pocket.
A typical sanction can include a mark of ‘0’ for the exam, even if you were not seen looking at it or using it.
Check your exam venues and seat numbers
- check your venue on your personal exam timetable and plan your journey in advance using the exam venue maps.
- check your seat number (on your exam timetable) for each exam before entering the exam venue (a list will also be displayed outside the room).
PC log-in details (digital exams only)
- check your University PC log-in details. You will need them to access the exam.
On the day
University smartcard
- bring your University student smartcard with you to all in-person exams for identification purposes.
You will not be able to use a digital version of your smartcard.
If you don’t have your physical smartcard, you may use alternative formal photo ID instead (i.e. a passport or driving license).
Arrive early
- arrive at least 20 minutes before the start of the exam. This will give you time to enter your details on your exam stationery (or get logged on and set-up for digital exams) and to hear the pre-exam instructions.
