Hi ,
If you have an in-person exam in the upcoming exam period, we have some useful reminders to help ensure that you’re exam ready.
Before the day
Check your exam venues
Most exam venues are on the main campus, but some are a little further away (e.g. Sports Centre, Urban Sciences Building and NU Business School). Make sure you check your venue on your exam timetable and plan your journey in advance using the exam venue maps.
Exam rules and guidance
Please take a few minutes to fully read the Exam Rules & Guidance before your exams. These are important as they tell you what to do before, during and at the end of your exam as well as what to take (and not take) to your exam desk.
Be sure to also check that you have a permitted calculator and dictionary (if applicable).
IMPORTANT: You are not permitted to have a mobile phone or smart watch with you at your exam desk, even if it is switched off and in your pocket. A typical sanction can include a mark of ‘0’ for the exam, even if you’re not seen looking at it or using it.
On the day
University smartcard
You need to bring your University student smartcard with you to all in-person exams for identification purposes. You will not be able to use the digital smartcard in the mobile app so please ensure you bring the physical version.
If you don’t have your smartcard, you may use alternative formal photo ID instead (i.e. a passport or driving license).
University PC log-in details (for digital exams)
For all in-person digital exams, you’ll need to use your University PC log-in details to access the exam. Please make sure you know these in advance.
Arrive early
Please arrive at least 20 minutes before the start of the exam. This will give you time to enter your details on your exam stationery (or get logged on and set-up for digital exams) and to hear the pre-exam instructions.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to the team by completing our Exam Help Form.
We wish you the best of luck with all your exams!
