With exams a distant memory, resolutions forgotten and January “blues” no more, it’s officially time to say hello to February! From Valentine’s Day to Pancake hunting, here’s our pick of events that you just can’t miss…

 

1. PG Open Day - 5th February

Considering postgraduate study? Then come along to our PG Open Day for an insight into what your future in higher education could look like! With intriguing subject fairs, campus tours and inspiring student cafes, this event is a must for those looking into further study.

2. Vintage Vera: Kilo Sale - 6th February

The highly anticipated (and sustainable!) Vintage Vera Kilo Sale is back on campus this month. Come along to grab one-off pieces from big brands like Nike, Adidas, Ralph Lauren and Fila for the unbelievable price of just £15 per kilo!

3. Student Volunteering Week - 10th-16th February

Want to improve your employability and wellbeing, impact your community and have fun doing it? Then join us for Student Volunteering Week, designed to celebrate all things volunteering! From helping to relieve food poverty to designing beer with our very own student run-brewery, StuBrew, get stuck into giving back with this jam-packed week of selfless activities

4. Go Green Week - 10th-16th February

Join the fight towards a greener future with a whole range of Go Green Week events from People & Planet society. Offering a wide range of perspectives on the topic of climate colonialism, join us for themed documentary screenings, panel discussions, workshops and reading groups. Meet like-minded people, spread awareness and help save the planet whilst you’re at it!

5. Valentine's at the Dog & Scone Cafe - 14th February

Is there anything better than spending Valentine’s Day surrounded by puppies? We think not! This year, Dog and Scone Cafe’s resident pooches are prepped and ready to provide all the feels with unlimited cuddles and unconditional love. Forget your current plans because this doggy-date is all you need! 

6. Cookery Masterclass with Food Nation - 17th February

Whether you’re a complete foodie or a culinary amateur, Food Nation’s cookery masterclass is an appetising event to mark in your February calendar. Kindly supported by Nutritank Society, come along and learn cookery tips and tricks that are sure to impress your guests next time they are round for dinner! No experience is necessary and all food and equipment is provided.

7. First Year Fest - 18th February

Calling all first year students! Want to learn more about the amazing career opportunities we offer here at Newcastle University? Look no further than First Year Fest! With information stands from top brands such as P&G, Civil Service and HSBC, as well as guidance on CV writing, entrepreneurship and work experience, being professionally productive has never felt so much fun!

And if that doesn’t persuade you enough, there will be pizza, cake & Bessie the well-being dog too.

8. Kielder Observatory Visit - 19th February

Always fancied yourself as an astrologist? Well this month you can live the dream with a trip to the dark skies of Kielder’s remarkable astronomical Observatory in Northumberland. Come along to navigate the constellations, phases of the Moon, the Solar System and much more right here in the North East. It will be simply out of this world!

9. Pancake Day on Campus - 25th February

Who doesn’t love Pancake Day? And this year, our Union has you covered (in lashings of syrup!). Satisfy your pancake cravings this holiday right here on campus with a range of scrumptious toppings, hot drinks and great company. The only question is, sweet or savoury? You decide! 

10. STACK Ice Bar - Throughout February

Newcastle’s hottest social space just got cooler with their newest addition, STACK Ice Bar. Throughout February, wrap up in ponchos and experience their 'New York New York' themed adventure, surrounded by impressive sculptures and delicious beverages. Don’t forget your woolly hat and scarf!
